A straight-up bet, also known as a single-number bet, is one of the riskiest wagers you can place in roulette. It involves betting on a specific number, and while the odds are lower, the potential payout is much higher compared to other inside bets. To make this bet, you simply place a chip on any one of the numbers on the wheel.
In American roulette, where an extra 00 is added, your odds drop slightly to 2.63% (or 1 in 38) due to the additional pocket.
Regardless of the version, the payout for a straight-up bet is the same: 35:1. So, if you were to wager $1 and win, your return would be $35.
