What are the odds of getting 10 reds in a row on roulette?

Author: Andrew Shepard

If you frequently play roulette you may have wondered what are the odds of getting 10 reds in a row on roulette or any other number. Some may think this is impossible or at least highly unlikely. But odds are everything when it comes to roulette. To calculate the odds you need to know that on the European version for even money bets, the odds are 18/37 or 48.6%. We put those odds to the power of ten and we get:

(18/37)10= 0.000735

So, according to the formula, the odds of hitting any one number 10 times in a row come to 1 in 1,024. On the American roulette wheel, these odds are even lower because of the higher house edge due to the extra 00 slot. As you can see the odds of this happening are not in your favor, but they are not impossible either.
